Marketplace Safety Guide
Snagg is an independent community platform for local marketplace activity, reviews, and practical local information. Use practical caution whenever you buy, sell, trade, meet, or message another user.
Snagg is not a party to transactions between users. Snagg does not verify or guarantee listings, sellers, buyers, payments, item condition, authenticity, ownership, delivery, title, registration, inspection, transaction safety, or transaction outcomes.
Snagg does not provide payment processing, escrow, buyer protection, seller protection, shipping protection, title verification, legal review, or dispute resolution unless explicitly stated.
Verify Before You Act
Users are responsible for independently verifying items, sellers, buyers, ownership, vehicle title and registration status, inspection requirements, local rules, customs/import/export requirements, and transaction details before completing a transaction.
Scam and Fraud Warning Signs
- rushed buyers or sellers who pressure you to decide immediately;
- unusual payment requests or complicated payment instructions;
- overpayment, refund, or third-party payment schemes;
- suspicious shipping requests or requests to use unfamiliar delivery services;
- pressure to leave Snagg before you are comfortable;
- listings, prices, or stories that seem too good to be true.
Payment Safety
- be cautious with deposits or prepayments to strangers;
- avoid gift cards, wire transfers, crypto, or other irreversible payment methods;
- verify payment before handing over items;
- do not share banking credentials, passwords, verification codes, or account access;
- slow down if a payment request feels confusing, urgent, or unusual.
Meet-Up Safety
- meet in safe, public, well-lit places when practical;
- bring another person when appropriate;
- tell someone where you are going when a meeting feels higher-risk;
- trust your instincts and leave if something feels wrong;
- do not share exact residential addresses publicly.
Communication and Privacy
- keep communication in Snagg when possible;
- avoid posting personal phone numbers, personal emails, exact residential addresses, or sensitive personal information publicly;
- remember that screenshots, copying, photos of screens, and external sharing can happen;
- do not send messages or images you would not want shared outside Snagg.
Prohibited and Restricted Items
The following listings or activity may be removed, restricted, hidden, or reported where appropriate:
- counterfeit goods;
- stolen property;
- illegal goods or services;
- weapons, firearms, ammunition, or explosives;
- controlled substances;
- prescription medications;
- hazardous materials;
- recalled items;
- fraudulent documents;
- issued or restricted equipment not authorized for resale;
- malicious software;
- surveillance tools intended for misuse;
- adult sexual content or services;
- human trafficking or exploitation;
- live animal sales, breeding, or transfer activity;
- regulated food activity;
- fundraising, donations, raffles, or crowdfunding unless explicitly permitted by Snagg.
Vehicle-Specific Checks
Vehicle transactions can involve extra legal, financial, and safety risk. Snagg does not verify vehicle status or transfer legality.
- verify ownership before paying or transferring a vehicle;
- check title and registration status;
- check for liens if applicable;
- inspect condition carefully or arrange an independent inspection when appropriate;
- understand transfer requirements before money or keys change hands;
- verify inspection, import, export, and customs requirements where relevant.
Reporting Problems
Report suspicious listings, users, messages, scams, prohibited items, or unsafe behavior. Snagg may review, restrict, remove, hide, or moderate content at its discretion, but Snagg cannot guarantee immediate response or perfect detection.
