Privacy Policy

Snagg is a local marketplace and reviews platform designed to minimize unnecessary data collection while helping local communities share listings, reviews, and related information. This Privacy Policy explains what information Snagg may collect, how it may be used, how long it may be retained, when it may be shared, and what choices and rights may be available to users.
This policy is not a promise that Snagg is anonymous, confidential, suitable for sharing sensitive security information, or guaranteed secure. Snagg may update this policy as the platform develops.
1. Who Controls Your Data
For purposes of applicable privacy laws, the operator of Snagg is responsible for deciding how personal information is collected and used.

2. Privacy Philosophy
Snagg aims to collect and retain the minimum practical amount of information necessary to operate the platform. Snagg does not currently plan to sell user data, build advertising profiles, operate a surveillance-based advertising platform, require sensitive identity documents, or require users to provide real names, organization details, role details, or sensitive access information.

3. Information We May Collect
Depending on how you use Snagg, we may collect the following categories of information.
Account Information
- username;
- login email address;
- password credentials handled through authentication providers;
- account creation date;
- basic account status information;
- authentication and session records.
Marketplace and Community Content
- listings;
- reviews;
- messages;
- reports;
- saved listings;
- uploaded images;
- community posts, comments, or other user-generated content.
Technical and Operational Information
Snagg and its infrastructure providers may automatically collect limited information such as:
- IP addresses;
- device and browser information;
- authentication logs;
- error logs;
- security and abuse-prevention logs;
- session information;
- storage and upload metadata;
- approximate location derived from IP address.
This information may be collected for operational, security, moderation, reliability, abuse-prevention, fraud-prevention, and platform maintenance purposes.
4. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect
Snagg does not currently intend to collect or require:
- sensitive identity documents;
- government identification documents;
- government security credentials or similar authorization documents;
- organization structure details;
- real legal names;
- biometric information;
- exact residential addresses.
Users should avoid voluntarily sharing sensitive or identifying information. If users include sensitive information in listings, messages, images, reviews, reports, or posts, that information may still be processed by Snagg systems as part of operating the platform.
5. Why We Use Information
Snagg may use collected information to:
- provide and operate the platform;
- create, secure, and manage user accounts;
- display listings, reviews, community posts, and marketplace content;
- support messaging and other user-requested features;
- process uploaded images and media;
- moderate content and enforce platform rules;
- investigate reports, scams, fraud, abuse, harassment, doxing, or policy violations;
- prevent spam, misuse, and security threats;
- debug errors and improve platform reliability;
- communicate service, security, account, or policy updates;
- comply with legal obligations.
Snagg does not sell personal information.
6. Legal Bases for Processing
Where GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar privacy laws apply, Snagg may rely on these legal bases:
- Contract: to provide the platform and user-requested features.
- Legitimate interests: to secure the platform, prevent abuse, moderate content, debug issues, maintain reliability, and improve core operations.
- Consent: where Snagg asks for optional permission, such as for non-essential cookies, optional analytics, or marketing communications.
- Legal obligation: where processing is necessary to comply with applicable law or lawful requests.
7. Messaging and Temporary Retention
Snagg messaging and conversation history are intended to be temporary. Messages and conversation history may be automatically deleted after approximately 72 hours unless retained for security, moderation, troubleshooting, operational, or legal reasons.
Users should assume that messages may still be:
- screenshotted;
- photographed;
- shared externally;
- archived by recipients;
- copied outside Snagg.
Do not send messages, images, or information you would not want publicly shared.
8. Listings and Reviews
Marketplace listings may automatically expire after approximately one week unless reposted by users. Reviews may expire, archive, or become less visible after approximately one year. Listings, reviews, comments, and community content are user-generated and may remain associated with usernames unless removed, expired, moderated, archived, or deleted.
9. Uploaded Images and Media
By uploading images to Snagg, users understand that uploaded files may be:
- compressed;
- resized;
- optimized;
- reformatted;
- metadata-stripped;
- moderated;
- stored temporarily or permanently depending on the feature;
- deleted if abandoned, unattached, expired, or removed.
Snagg does not currently support video uploads.
Users should not upload:
- sensitive security information;
- restricted facility or access information;
- sensitive operational or safety details;
- personally identifiable information of others without consent;
- restricted or controlled material;
- illegal content.
10. Public Visibility and User Responsibility
Publicly visible content on Snagg may potentially be:
- viewed by other users;
- shared externally;
- indexed;
- archived;
- screenshotted;
- recorded;
- redistributed outside the platform.
Snagg cannot guarantee complete anonymity, confidentiality, or absolute privacy. Users are responsible for the information they choose to post or share.
Users should avoid posting:
- exact addresses;
- personal phone numbers;
- personal email addresses;
- restricted facility or access information;
- sensitive operational or safety details;
- personally identifiable information of others.
11. Moderation, Reports, and Safety Concerns
Snagg may use user reports, human moderation, volunteer moderators, automated safety tools, and operational review systems to investigate fraud, spam, abuse, doxing, harassment, scam activity, policy violations, security concerns, and reports involving sensitive security information or restricted facility or access information.
Moderation systems and staffing may evolve over time. Moderation decisions are made by humans and systems that may not always be perfect, immediate, or error-free.
If an authorized person or organization believes content contains sensitive security information, restricted facility or access information, sensitive operational or safety details, or other improperly disclosed information, they may contact Snagg for review at admin@gosnagg.com. Submission of a request does not guarantee removal, but Snagg may review and act on reports in its discretion, including by restricting, removing, preserving, or escalating content where appropriate.
12. Third-Party Services
Snagg may use third-party providers for:
- authentication;
- database hosting;
- cloud infrastructure;
- storage;
- analytics;
- error monitoring;
- security;
- email delivery;
- image processing;
- payment processing, if paid features are introduced.
These providers may process information as necessary to provide their services to Snagg. Snagg may use providers such as Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and backend infrastructure. Additional providers may be added as the platform develops.
Snagg does not control third-party privacy practices, but aims to use providers that are appropriate for the platform's operational and security needs.
13. Cookies and Local Storage
Snagg may use cookies, session storage, local storage, or similar technologies for:
- authentication;
- login sessions;
- security;
- basic preferences;
- performance;
- reliability.
If Snagg uses non-essential analytics, advertising, or tracking technologies, Snagg will provide any notices or choices required by applicable law.
14. Account Recovery
Because Snagg intentionally limits collection of personal information, account recovery options may be limited. If a user loses access to their login email account, recovery of the associated Snagg account may be limited or unavailable. Users are responsible for maintaining access to their login email.
15. Data Retention
Snagg aims to retain data only as long as reasonably necessary for:
- platform operations;
- security;
- abuse prevention;
- moderation;
- legal compliance;
- reliability;
- technical maintenance.
Approximate retention expectations include:
- messages and conversation history: approximately 72 hours unless retained for security, moderation, troubleshooting, operational, or legal reasons;
- marketplace listings: approximately one week unless reposted, removed, archived, or retained for operational reasons;
- reviews: approximately one year before they may expire, archive, or become less visible;
- uploaded images: retained while needed for the relevant listing, post, review, moderation process, or platform function;
- logs and security records: retained as needed for reliability, security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and legal compliance;
- account information: retained while the account exists, unless deletion is requested or retention is legally or operationally necessary.
Temporary uploads, expired listings, orphaned files, abandoned drafts, or expired conversation history may be automatically deleted. Backups may retain limited data for a temporary period before deletion according to backup cycles.
16. Data Security
Snagg aims to implement reasonable technical and operational safeguards appropriate for the platform. These may include authentication controls, access restrictions, encrypted connections where supported, security monitoring, provider-level safeguards, and abuse-prevention systems. However, no internet platform, storage provider, or communication system can guarantee absolute security. Users acknowledge the inherent risks of transmitting information online.
17. International Use and Transfers
Snagg may be accessed from multiple countries and jurisdictions. Snagg and its service providers may process information in countries other than where a user lives. Where required, Snagg aims to rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections or other lawful transfer mechanisms. Users are responsible for complying with local laws and regulations when using the platform.
18. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have privacy rights, including the right to:
- request access to personal information Snagg holds about you;
- request correction of inaccurate information;
- request deletion of certain information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- request a copy of your information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- complain to a data protection authority.
To make a privacy request, contact admin@gosnagg.com. Snagg may need to verify your identity before responding. Some requests may be limited where retention is required for security, fraud prevention, moderation, legal compliance, dispute handling, or platform integrity.
19. Children
Snagg is not intended for children under 18. Users under 18 may not create an account or use the platform.
20. Policy Changes
Snagg may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as platform features, infrastructure, moderation systems, or legal requirements evolve. Updated versions become effective upon posting unless otherwise stated. If changes are material, Snagg may provide additional notice where reasonable or required.
